Sunset Praises: Poetry with a Purpose

Why Did He Die For Me?

Our Lord is gentle and oh so kind,
On earth His equal I cannot find.
He came to earth and He came to die,
My feeble mind keeps asking why?

Why did He die for me?
Why did He die for me?
Unworthy I am, that’s plain to see.
Why did He die for me?

So clear your message there’s no mistake.
It’s free salvation for me to take.
I can not earn it by what I do.
Your gift I get by loving you.

I am a sinner and I’ll admit,
It is a role that I surely fit.
I now repent Lord, please make me strong.
And keep my path away from wrong.

Come in, Lord Jesus, I humbly pray,
Come in, and dwell in my heart today.
Not ‘cause I’m worthy, but by Your Grace,
One day in Heav’n I’ll take my place.

That’s why He died for me!
That’s why He died for me!
I’ll live with Him eternally.
That’s why He died for me!
